The impracticality of Practical Knowledge in Educational Research
教育研究中實踐知識的非實踐性
講座內容提要🧑🍳:The problem of change has haunted the human sciences since their institutionalization at the turn of the 20th century. My task is historical, asking about the conditions that make possible the question for useful and practical knowledge as a pedagogical project. Whether the future is the lifelong learner or the “practical knowledge” necessary for the Knowledge Society, the sciences of schooling to change social conditions are projects to design particular kinds of people. Three limits of such planning are discussed. One is the making of kinds of people are practices that exclude and abject in the impulse to include. Second and paradoxically, the principles for making the future conserve rather than challenge the existing frameworks that govern the present. And third, the expertise of designing people is effects of power that produce a hierarchy and inequality. With these limits, what seems practical and useful is impractical.

Thomas S. Popkewitz(1940-),美國威斯康星-麥迪遜大學百事3平台課程與教學研究系教授,其研究主要關註教學改革,教學研究與教師教育,已在美國、歐洲、拉丁美洲和亞洲等地區的教師教育和課程改革方面出版專著和編著25部♏️,在世界頂級學術期刊發表論文160多篇,其中部分專著和論文已被譯成11種語言。
其最新著作有《Cosmopolitanism and the Age of School Reform》(世界性與學校改革時代)(2009)👉🏿,《Schooling and the Making of Citizens in the Long Nineteenth Century: Comparative Visions》(十九世紀的學校教育和公民的塑造:比較的視角)(2011)。
